Haptic Lab
Delta Kites by Haptic Lab
The Maker: Haptic Lab is rooted in a history of using sensory design with intention, to do good, and find a way. Founded by Emily Fischer, a Brooklyn-based architect, the first product Emily created was a quilted map when her mother was diagnosed with glaucoma — these early projects were meant to be used as a wayfinding tool for the visually impaired. Helping people “see” through their sense of touch, their Haptic sense.
Haptic designs counter the rapid digitization of our lives, creating space for intentionality, and recognition of the real, physical world our bodies occupy. We supply the inspiration and guidance to help you feel a sensory connection to the environment that surrounds you.
We make intricate quilts, kites, and objects that bring together new technologies with traditional craft techniques. At the core of each project lies a sense of playfulness that is both timeless and boundless.
We design with impact in mind — sourcing ethically, and producing responsibly.
I've know and been a fan of Emily for years now!
Excited to finally have her work in the shop.
