Maggie Thompson is a brilliant visual artist from Minneapolis who studied textiles at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). On top of her fine art which has appeared and been collected by numerous museums she has maintained a knitwear business whose designs inspired  by her Ojibwe Heritage.  Friends meet Makwa Knitwear!

The Backbone cowl is meant to be worn as a statement piece. It is easy to wear and is hand loomed on a knitting machine. It is fully fashioned to create a cozy double layer. The band is knit on the outside layer which can be adjusted in its placement.
